How Global Warming is Affecting Us NOW.

Since we live in New Hampshire and maple syrup is a BIG industry here, especially in the northern part of the state/white mountain, great north wood, I just wanted an article that some of you might connect with. In the older generations there are many doubters concerning global warming and whether it is occuring and is it caused by man. Also some people just don't care because they don't think it will affect them in any way because they may not live near the ocean. Global Warming affects us all in some way. This article talks about one way it will.http://www.environmentaldefense.org/documents/396_GWWhtMtns.pdf

How many people out there know how much carbon dioxide they emit?

----I found this website that has a carbon calcultor. You answer a few questions and it will determine how much carbon you emit during a course of a typical year. It also offers ways for you to lower that number further. http://carbonchallenge.sr.unh.edu/calculator.jspAs you can see it is put out by the university.

Global Warming will lead to more and tougher competition.

I read this article and thought it was interesting and something that will become more and more likely for every generation. I feel if we act today we could very well change our future. The future is not written in stone yet.http://www.environmentalgraffiti.com/?p=433#more-433

Presidental Season is upon us.

Every four years it comes upon us out of the blue. It seems to me that it is coming sooner and sooner every year. It seems that the 2004 Presidental election has just finished, but it has been three years and the Presidental candidates have been campaigning for about eight months now. This presidental season is as important to the environmental cause as trying to find ways to to save a gallon of gasoline or buying carbon credits. These people, will be part of the process of passing important environmental legislation. Over the course of the last seven years we have had a leader in the White House that seems to me has been paying off political debt to his supporters at the hand of our environment.

What we need to do in the environmental community is is do our research on each political candidate and see how they stand on preserving our environment and conserving our resources. Everyone will have different priorities about the environment. Some people will care more about preventing and reducing the effects of global warming or air pollution, but others out there are more concerned with the beauty of our forests, farmlands and national parks. So whatever your priorities and things you care about, you will need to research how all of the candidates and their policies will affect these treasures.

So the season is just starting but we all have a lot of work to do. We all need to research the candidates so we can determine who we feel is the most qualified to lead our environmental nation.I found this article on this website and I thought it could provide useful for all of you in your decision.http://www.grist.org/feature/2007/07/06/candidates/

Ways Everyone can help to save the Earth.

Everyone, no matter how much money they make can paticipate in the preservation of our home. Here is a list of different ways that people can help to keep our planet clean. It is an unfortunate fact that not everyone has the financial capabilities to go out and buy a brand new hybrid that gets 60 miles to the gallon, but everyone can do this to help.

1)No matter what kind of car you drive, assuming you are old enough to drive a car, can make sure the tire is fully inflated with air. The fuel efficiency of all cars reduces when the tire pressure is low.

2) It does no good to buy the most efficient car that you can afford if you drive your car like a bat out of hell. What I mean by this is if you drive much faster than the posted speed limit, the fewer miles per gallon you can get from your car.

3)Everyone can also properly take care of their automobile. Change the oil, have a tune up performed every so often will help to keep your car running at its peak efficiency.

There are many way everyone of us can do to save our home. This list has only deals with what we can do to save gasoline and diesel. More ideas will be coming every so often to help people, no matter how rich or poor, that we all can do to help.
